Solihull Theatre Company takes to the stage once again, this time with the powerful musical Jekyll & Hyde. The show adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson’s book tells the story of Dr Henry Jekyll who believes he can separate the dual elements of good and evil which exist in every human being. He experiments on himself and transforms into the terrifying Edward Hyde, wreaking havoc on 19th century London. The show is also a love story. As Dr Jekyll he is engaged to the upper-class Emma Carew but as Hyde, he forms an intense but doomed relationship with girl of the night Lucy Harris. Chairman of the society Ian Page, who also plays the part of Jekyll & Hyde says ‘I am thoroughly enjoying playing the part of Jekyll & Hyde and being on-stage with Solihull Theatre Company again. It is a fantastic show with a powerful score and everyone involved has worked tirelessly to stage what will be a not-to-miss production’. The show includes the haunting but beautiful song ‘Girls of the Night’ which was not in the original Broadway version of the show. It has only recently been made available for amateur performance and a special licence is required to secure the music. Jekyll and Hyde is at the Solihull Arts Complex from 11-15 May and tickets (Tues-Wed £12, Thurs-Sat £13) can be obtained from the box office on 0121 704 6962 or by visiting the new society website www.solihull-theatre.co.uk.
